Almost half way. Ahead of target.
Should be celebrating
Still seems hard though
This link will take you to the outline of my 30-day push up challenge, and this link will take you back to the results of day 12 of the challenge
Days 13 and 14 Figures
Days 13 and 14 – Thoughts on Progress
As we get into this challenge becoming more routine, it is natural that the thoughts and comments on progress get less. Hopefully by this stage actually doing the push ups is becoming a matter of how many. it is still not quite that easy yet though
Day 13
Approaching half way. Morning set was OK. Lunch time set was the most I’ve done in a single session for a couple of years. Interesting how much strain I can now feel in my abs.
Push ups, done properly, require you to maintain the front plank position. Doing 4 sets of push ups each day mean you are probably maintaining a plank for about 3 minutes each day. You would expect your back muscles to be tightened. It’s less intuitive how much your abdominal muscles are engaged.
My abs continue to let me know about the effort they are making with a few new aches. Overall, it is pretty clear that strength and endurance is beginning to increase.
Completing 105 push ups in just 3 sets is a big increase. I will still do a fourth set – repetition is key to improvement. It is not all about the total number of push ups completed.
Update: Last set of 30 made this the highest daily total so far.
Day 14
In the introduction to this post I said that doing the push ups was (should be) becoming routine. I wish I could say it is getting easier but that would not really be true. Every set continues to require a degree of determination and commitment. It tests the will power. That is most true first thing in the morning.
Taking stock of the body – right rotator cuff (shoulder) still hurts. That is a long standing injury but one that doesn’t often bother me too much.
Left tricep seems fully recovered although the whole muscle is a little tight.
Abdominal muscles have settled down but, pleasingly, I can still feel the effort from doing the push-ups.
